James Kernan

Biography:

Jim Kernan serves as a Mortgage Banking Consultant with 20+ years of experience in residential mortgage lending. Over his career, Jim has worked with a diverse clientele from the first-time home buyer to the savvy real estate investor. As the spouse of a physician, Jim has focused much of his business toward mortgage financing for practicing physicians (MD, DO & DPM, including residents & fellows), dentists (DDS & DMD) and veterinarians (DMV).

Jim has firsthand experience and a deep understanding of the “Doctor’s Loan” program, both as a mortgage loan originator AND a borrower. Having made multiple moves throughout the country for his wife’s residency and fellowship, Jim knows the challenges both new and experienced physicians face when their job takes them to a new location, especially when it comes to securing housing. The “physicians mortgage” or “doctors loan” offers both purchase and refinance options, some with up to 100% financing, no monthly PMI and both fixed & variable terms. The physician’s mortgage is available for purchase of a primary home, vacation home and even has a construction option to build.

Jim takes a hands-on approach working with his clients from the initial consultation thru the closing of their loan. His experience with most types of residential mortgage programs including conventional, FHA, VA & jumbo loans positions him as a true expert in home lending. Jim has served as a mortgage loan officer in various parts of the US starting in 1998 after earning a bachelor’s degree in both Marketing and Management from Albright College in Reading PA. Jim, his wife and son currently reside in the City of Pittsburgh after meeting in Philadelphia PA and living in St. Louis MO. When they’re not working, they enjoy travel and spending time outdoors.
