James G. Orie has served as F.N.B. Corporation’s Chief Legal Officer since 2004 and became the Company’s Corporate Secretary in 2015. Orie manages FNB’s in-house Legal Department and has primary oversight of the Company’s and its affiliates’ legal, regulatory, board governance, corporate secretarial and fiduciary responsibilities. As Chief Legal Officer, Orie provides counsel to the board and senior management team and is engaged in critical decision and policy-making processes, including legal, regulatory, business, operational, compliance and risk management issues; transactions; litigation and claims; SEC reporting and disclosure matters; the Code of Conduct; and regulatory and governmental relations. Orie brings more than 40 years of legal and financial services regulatory experience to his role.
Before joining FNB’s Legal Department in 1996, Orie held roles as corporate counsel with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Chief Counsel for the Office of Thrift Supervision’s Pittsburgh office and lead counsel for a Pittsburgh-based law firm’s corporate, business and banking practice.
Orie has served as the chair of the American Bankers Association’s Regional Bank General Counsels Group and on various financial institution trade group committees dedicated to advocating for the perspectives of the financial services interests. He is active in the community, having served on various nonprofit boards dedicated to providing opportunity to historically disadvantaged youth, such as Ozanam Inc., while also volunteering and providing pro bono legal assistance for disadvantaged persons and charitable and education organizations.
Orie holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Franklin & Marshall College and earned his Juris Doctorate at Duquesne Law School in Pittsburgh.
